How the SmartFuse electrofusion system works together
SmartFuse fittings carry their weld parameters in a built-in resistor. The control box reads them without manual entry, executes the weld and monitors it from start to finish. The app ties it together, guiding the operator through the best-practice steps and building a full record of the job. Detect the fitting, load the settings, weld, record: less input, fewer errors, less paperwork.
The SmartFuse app
The app is free to use and always will be. It guides installers through systemised welds and prompts a photo at each step. Those photos are stored with the fitting details, the exact location, the installer’s ID, every control-box weld stage time and reading, and the temperature on the day. Records save to USB on site – useful in remote areas with no internet — or automatically to the cloud, giving managers and asset owners a real-time picture of any job, anywhere.

SmartFuse electrofusion fittings and branch saddles
The SmartFuse range covers couplers, elbows, tees, reducers and saddles. PLASSON also makes large-bore branch saddles with a full-bore outlet for better flow, a larger fusion area and embedded heating wires. The large-bore saddles carry a test port, so the integrity of the saddle weld can be checked before cutting into the pipe – the safeguard that makes hot tapping on a pressurised line safer.

The tooling range is engineered alongside installers for correct pipe preparation:

Servicing and calibration
An electrofusion weld is only as reliable as the control box making it. PLASSON control boxes must be recalibrated and serviced every 12 months or 200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Each box shows its hours since last calibration on start-up, and data-recording models flag when a calibration is due. Servicing is done at PLASSON’s Brisbane service centre and covers recalibration, the latest software, inspection and testing of all components, and a test weld. Repairs are quoted before any work is done.
Certification
SmartFuse supports certified installers; it doesn’t replace certification. All electrofusion installation must be carried out by certified installers to PIPA POP001.
