A saddle takes a branch or service connection off a poly main without cutting the line. PLASSON makes mechanical saddles that bolt on and tap live, and electrofusion branch saddles that fuse on permanently — including large-bore saddles with a test port that make hot tapping on a pressurised line safer.
Plassaddle – metal-free mechanical saddle
The Plassaddle taps into a poly pipeline for irrigation, domestic and commercial connections. It installs fast, with no cutting equipment and minimal tools, and can go anywhere along the pipe. It taps live, is bolt-free, and has a built-in cutter.
Available in three offtakes: a female threaded offtake (ISO 7 “Rp”) in 1/2″, 3/4″, 1″, 1.1/4″ and 1.1/2″; a live tapper body with integral 25 or 32 mm Series 7 compression ends for PE or copper service pipe; and a live tapper with a 3/4″ male thread (ISO 7 “R”).

EF branch saddles fuse permanently onto the main in a single weld – the time-saving of one weld, the reliability of precision-moulded components, and a pressure test port for peace of mind. Large-bore branch saddles add a full-bore outlet for better flow and a larger fusion area.

Hot tapping
Hot tapping means connecting to a pressurised, in-service line. PLASSON’s large-bore saddles are engineered to make this safer: the test port lets you confirm the integrity of the saddle weld before cutting into the pipe.
